A recent graduate of the University of Washington and future medical professional, Sierra Shoopman currently pursues a wide range of academic and occupational interests in the Puget Sound region and elsewhere. Raised in Olympia, Washington, Sierra Shoopman attended Capital High School, where she began to demonstrate her superior academic potential. A participant in the Running Start program, Sierra Shoopman took courses at South Puget Sound Community College in tandem with her commitments at Capital High School, building a high degree of college experience before graduation. As a result of her hard work, Sierra Shoopman graduated as one of the top 10 students in her class at Capital High School, simultaneously earning an Associate of Arts from South Puget Sound Community College and winning a Washington State Principals’ Award for Academic Excellence. Following graduation, Sierra Shoopman enrolled at the University of Washington in Seattle, where she continued to build upon her outstanding academic record.
A Biology major with a minor in Chemistry, Sierra Shoopman maintained a well-rounded course of study at UW, excelling in all subjects – humanities and sciences included. A frequent presence on the Dean’s list, Sierra Shoopman also earned selection to the UW Chapter of the Sigma Alpha Lambda National Leadership and Honors Organization for her academic performance. A highly active member of the Delta Zeta sorority as well, Sierra Shoopman served as Assistant Activities Chair and Assistant Philanthropy Chair during her time with this group, maintaining a commendable commitment to community service endeavors in the greater Seattle area and beyond. Having graduated from UW in June 2011 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, Sierra Shoopman currently looks toward a career in medicine, with additional schooling on the horizon.
